Japanese Festivals Cruise Details
The Gion Festival is held in Kyoto annually during the month of July. It has been celebrated for over a thousand years, originally to appease gods thought to cause human suffering and natural disasters. The cruise arrives in Kobe on the day of the massive concluding parade, in time to behold the spectacular festivities.
The next day, the cruise stops in Osaka for the chance to attend the main event of the famous Tenjin Festival. This time, the two-day, thousand-year-old celebrations honour the deity of scholarship. The cruise ship stays in port until late at night, so you can watch the land and river processions with fireworks.
